Accounting Technology & Systems Consulting
The Right Accounting System — Set Up Correctly — Changes Everything
Platform-agnostic consulting across QuickBooks, Sage, Dynamics, NetSuite, and Xero — so you get the right system, implemented correctly, and secured properly
Most accounting firms support one platform. JTA‑CPA supports six — and more importantly, we will tell you honestly which one is right for your business, then implement it, secure it, and keep it running.

Is Your Accounting System Working Against You?
These are the technology problems that quietly drain time, money, and confidence from businesses every day.
Running on the Wrong Platform
Your software doesn't match your complexity. It's either too limited or too heavy — and the workarounds are consuming your team.
Systems That Don't Talk to Each Other
Payroll here, accounting there, CRM somewhere else. You're manually re-entering data between systems every single week.
No Real-Time Financial Visibility
You wait until month-end to know where you stand. By the time you see the numbers, the decisions have already been made.
Financial Data With No Security Plan
User access isn't restricted. Backups aren't verified. You couldn't explain your controls to a lender, auditor, or your own insurance carrier.
Most Accounting Firms Support One Platform. We Support Six — and We Will Tell You Which One You Actually Need.
Platform-agnostic means our recommendation is based entirely on your business — not which software we make the most margin on.
The right accounting system for a $500K service business is completely different from the right system for a $15M multi-location distributor. And the right answer for your business today may not be the right answer in three years. We assess where you are, where you are going, and which platform gets you there — then we implement it correctly, integrate it with your other tools, and make sure the data inside it is secure.
This is not software sales. This is technology advisory from a CPA who understands both sides of the equation.
Accounting Platforms We Support
From startup to mid-market ERP — we work across the full spectrum of accounting technology.
We are not locked into any single vendor. Every platform below is one we have implemented, configured, and supported for real clients — and we will recommend the one that fits your operation, not the one that pays us the highest referral fee.
QuickBooks Online & Desktop
Best for: $200K – $5M revenue, service businesses, professional services, retail
The most widely-used small business platform in North America. We hold Certified ProAdvisor status for both Online and Desktop versions.
Sage 50 & Sage 100
Best for: $2M – $25M, manufacturing, distribution, construction
Robust desktop and hybrid-cloud platforms built for businesses with complex inventory, job costing, or multi-entity reporting needs.
Microsoft Dynamics 365
Best for: $10M+ mid-market, multi-location, CRM integration needs
A full ERP platform with deep Microsoft 365 integration. Ideal for businesses that need unified CRM, finance, and operations in a single system.
NetSuite by Oracle
Best for: $5M+, multi-entity, international operations, rapid growth
The leading cloud ERP for scaling businesses. Purpose-built for companies with complex reporting, multiple subsidiaries, or global operations.
Xero
Best for: $250K – $5M, cloud-first, e-commerce, international clients
A clean, cloud-native platform with an exceptional integration ecosystem. Particularly strong for e-commerce, international transactions, and multi-currency.
Wave & FreshBooks
Best for: Freelancers, micro-businesses, under $500K revenue
Simple, low-cost cloud accounting for businesses just getting started. We set these up correctly and build the transition path to a more capable platform when you outgrow them.
Accounting Technology Services
Every engagement is scoped to what you actually need — not a packaged service that doesn't fit.
Platform Assessment & Selection
We evaluate your business model, growth trajectory, and reporting needs — then recommend the right platform. Not the most expensive one. The right one.
Implementation & Configuration
Full implementation: chart of accounts, workflow setup, opening balance migration, and team training — done correctly the first time.
Data Migration
Move your financial history between platforms without losing data, corrupting records, or creating reconciliation problems.
Systems Integration
Connect your accounting platform to payroll, CRM, e-commerce, POS, or industry software — eliminating manual re-entry between systems.
Workflow Optimization
Audit your current processes, automate repetitive tasks, and redesign workflows around how your team actually works.
IT Security & Controls Review
User access controls, data backup verification, and security configuration review — so your financial data is protected and auditable.
Which Accounting Platform Is Right for Your Business?
This is the question most firms won't answer directly. We will.
The wrong platform costs you in three ways: time spent on workarounds, decisions made on bad data, and a migration you eventually have to do anyway. Here is how we think about platform fit — and where each system belongs in a business’s growth lifecycle.
Starting Out ( Under $500K )
Wave or FreshBooks
Simple cloud accounting, minimal cost. We configure it correctly and build your chart of accounts for clean reporting from day one — with a roadmap for when you outgrow it.
Growing Business ( $250K – $5M )
QuickBooks Online or Xero
Cloud-first, CPA-accessible, and integration-rich. The right choice for most service businesses, retailers, and professional firms growing into their accounting needs.
Complex Operations ( $2M – $15M )
QuickBooks Desktop or Sage 50/100
Purpose-built for manufacturers, distributors, and contractors with inventory management, job costing, and multi-department reporting requirements.
Scaling & Mid-Market ( $5M+ )
Microsoft Dynamics 365 or NetSuite
Full ERP platforms for businesses with multi-entity consolidation, advanced reporting, CRM integration, or international operations. We assess readiness and lead the implementation.
Not sure where you fall? That is exactly what our free systems assessment is designed to answer.
IT Security & Controls — Because the Right Software Is Only Half the Job
Your accounting system holds your most sensitive financial data. Most implementations ignore security entirely.
We bring CPA-level rigor to accounting technology security. Whether you need a controls review before a bank loan, SOC 2 readiness assessment, or simply want to know your financial data is protected — we assess, document, and remediate the gaps most implementation firms never look at.

Why JTA‑CPA for Accounting Technology
Most CPA firms outsource technology questions. Most technology consultants lack CPA-level financial expertise. We sit at the intersection of both — and that changes the quality of advice you get.
Platform-Agnostic Advice
We are not a reseller for any platform. Our recommendation is based entirely on what is right for your business — even if the answer is the cheapest option available.
CPA + Technology Expertise Combined
We understand accounting at the CPA level and technology at the implementation level. Most firms have one or the other. We bring both to every engagement.
Certified Across Multiple Platforms
QuickBooks ProAdvisor certified. Implementation experience across Sage, Dynamics, NetSuite, and Xero. We speak the language of every platform your business might need.
Security-First Approach
We do not just set up your software and leave. We review access controls, backup procedures, and data security so your financial systems are protected from day one.
How We Work With You
A clear, three-step engagement model — from diagnosis through implementation to ongoing advisory.
Step 1
Systems Assessment
We evaluate your current software, integrations, data quality, and security posture. You get a written summary of what is working, what is not, and what we recommend — before any commitment.
Step 2
Implementation & Optimization
We execute the plan: platform migration, new implementation, integration build-out, or security remediation — with full documentation and team training included.
Step 3
Ongoing Advisory
Quarterly reviews, proactive platform updates, and year-round support as your business and technology needs evolve. You have a CPA who understands your systems, not a help desk ticket.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I'm on the right accounting platform?
Your platform is wrong if: you are spending hours on manual workarounds, your reports don’t give you useful data, your system can’t handle your transaction volume, or you have outgrown its features. Our free systems assessment will give you a definitive answer.
What does a platform migration actually involve?
A proper migration includes data mapping, historical data conversion, chart of accounts rebuilding, opening balance reconciliation, parallel-run testing, and team training. We handle every step so your financial history arrives intact and your team lands running.
Can you connect our accounting software to our other business tools?
Yes. We integrate accounting platforms with payroll, CRM, e-commerce, POS, inventory management, and industry-specific software — eliminating manual data entry between systems.
How long does a full implementation take?
Simple setups (QuickBooks Online for a service business) typically take one to two weeks. Complex implementations (Dynamics 365 or NetSuite with integrations) take four to twelve weeks. We give you a firm timeline before we start.
What is IT controls testing and do I need it?
IT controls testing evaluates whether your accounting system’s user access, data security, backup procedures, and audit trails are configured to protect your financial data. If you have a bank loan covenant, are pursuing a SOC 2 report, or are planning a sale, you almost certainly need it.
Do you work with NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics, or just QuickBooks?
We work across all six major platforms: QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), Sage 50 and Sage 100, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite by Oracle, Xero, and Wave/FreshBooks. We hold QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification and have implementation experience across the full stack.
What does the free systems assessment include?
We review your current software setup, integration landscape, data quality, user access configuration, and workflow processes. You receive a written summary of what is working, what is broken, and what we would recommend — with no obligation to engage us.
Can you help us prepare for a SOC 2 audit?
Yes. We provide SOC readiness assessments that evaluate your controls against SOC 1 and SOC 2 criteria — identifying gaps, recommending remediation, and helping you build the documentation an auditor will need.
Ready to Stop Fighting Your Accounting System?
In a free 30-minute systems assessment, we will identify what is holding your current setup back, whether you are on the right platform, and what it would take to get your accounting technology working for your business — not against it.
