Steven spent more than a decade working inside large organizations — in internal audit, SOX compliance, and financial systems — before founding JTA-CPA. In that time, he watched the same pattern repeat: small and mid-sized businesses receiving commodity-level service from their accountants. Returns filed on time, boxes checked, correspondence answered. But no real strategy, no proactive guidance, and no sense that the CPA genuinely understood what the business was trying to build.
Jackson Titus & Associates was founded to fill that gap. A focused practice built around direct relationships and year-round engagement — not a large firm with rotating staff and billable-hour pressure, but a firm where every client works with an experienced CPA who knows their file, understands their industry, and is available when it matters. Steven Towne, CPA, CIA, CISA
Steven is the founder of Jackson Titus & Associates, bringing more than 15 years of experience across tax strategy, financial reporting, internal audit, SOX compliance, IT systems, and accounting operations. Before founding JTA-CPA, he worked directly with business owners and corporate finance teams — identifying where financial systems broke down, strengthening controls, and building the reporting infrastructure that organizations need to operate with confidence.
His credentials reflect a deliberately broad base of expertise. The CPA license covers the full scope of tax planning, business accounting, and financial compliance. The CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) reflects deep experience in audit methodology, risk assessment, internal controls design, and organizational governance — expertise that most public accountants don’t carry. The CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) is rare in public accounting: it means Steven understands how your accounting systems, software integrations, and data flows work, not just how your returns get filed.
His tax practice spans federal and state income tax preparation, multi-state filings, S-Corp elections and ongoing compliance, quarterly estimated tax planning, business entity structuring, year-end strategy, and navigating IRS and state correspondence. On the advisory side, his background includes Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal audit program development, month-end close improvement, financial statement preparation, reviews, compilations, and accounting system implementation. He is also a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor with hands-on experience setting up, cleaning up, and optimizing QuickBooks for small and mid-sized businesses.
